Konveyor BOF: Community Tools to Accelerate the Journey to Kubernetes

Authors:   Carlisia Thompson, Dylan Murray, Nolan Brubaker, Erik Nelson

Abstract

At organizations everywhere, system administrators and developers are faced with requests to digitally transform their frameworks so enterprises can benefit from IT modernization with Kubernetes. But taking that containerized leap requires a fundamental change in configuration and architecture. It’s like looking at a before and after renovation photo without directions to show you how to get from one to the next. What happens in between? And how can you pull that off too?The Konveyor community exists to accelerate this journey to Kubernetes. Konveyor is a community of people passionate about helping others modernize and migrate their applications for Kubernetes by building tools to help users rehost, replatform, and refactor their applications to Kubernetes. In this session we will discuss the tools that exist in the community - Crane, Forklift, Tackle, and Move2Kube - along with the communities they intersect with such as a Velero and Restic. Bring your questions about rehosting, replatforming, and refactoring and let’s learn together!Additional registration is required for this session and will close 24-hours prior to the session start time. Please fill out the RSVP form if you would like to participate. Registrants must also be registered for KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2021 Virtual to attend. A meeting link will be shared with all registered participants prior to the session start time. Please register HERE. Pre-registration closes May 5, 15:00 AM Central European Standard Time (CEST).
