Sponsored Session: An Open-source HCI Platform Built on Kubernetes

Project Harvester is an open-source hyper-converged infrastructure software built on top of Kubernetes, designed to be easy to understand, install and operate, even without the knowledge of Kubernetes.

• Hyper-converged infrastructure reduces the burden of managing servers and storage separately

In the past, VM administrators were not familiar with Kubernetes concepts like pods and PVCs, making it difficult to bring VM management into container platforms. Project Harvester is designed to be easy to understand, install and operate, even without the knowledge of Kubernetes, making it an open-source alternative to traditional proprietary HCI infrastructure software.

But in the end, none of these solutions have come close to the popularity of industry-standard virtualization products like vSphere and Nutanix.We believe the reason is, despite Kubernetes becoming an industry standard, knowledge of it is not widespread among VM administrators.
