Summary

The SIG-Network is a special interest group focused on networking and projects related to traffic and protocols. The group was formed to help offload the technical oversight committee and to clarify and inform, collaborate and interrelate with any number of open source projects that are within the CNCF and outside the CNCF. The group's focus is on service meshes, but it also covers other networking technologies.

The SIG-Network was formed to help organizations that run systems in a resilient way and part of that includes different geographic locations as edge takes flight and we have internet of things and we have networking all around. The group's stewardship is impartial and it has a collection of co-chairs from Lyft, Mastercard, and Layer 5. The group meets twice a month and encourages participation from anyone interested in networking technologies.

Abstract

Networking is hard! This talk will start with some background on Kubernetes networking. Attendees who are not already comfortable with the "hows and whys" of basic networking in Kubernetes can get a bit of a primer before we dive deep on a few of the more recent developments and efforts in the networking space.
