Volcano is a system for running high-performance workloads on Kubernetes. In the year 2022, Volcano made big progress on user adoption, community development, cross-community collaborations and successfully moved to incubation level. In this talk, William will review Volcano motivation, architecture; then go through latest updates on new features, user adoptions, and new subprojects. After that William will introduce where the project is heading to, updated project roadmap and how new contributors to get involved. There will be an open Q&A for attendees to ask questions.

Contour, a CNCF incubating project, is a high performance ingress and load balancer solution for Kubernetes. Contour offers a richer feature set than some common alternatives while maintaining a lightweight profile. At its core, Contour is providing a control plane for the Envoy edge and service proxy. This session will show you how to leverage Contour and Envoy for Kubernetes workloads in a multi-tenant environment as well as include a demo of recent Contour features. We will also focus on the project roadmap including enhanced support for Gateway API, the Contour Operator for enhanced lifecycle management, distributed tracing support, and much more.Click here to view captioning/translation in the MeetingPlay platform!

The conference presentation discusses the need for security measures in OpenTelemetry and proposes solutions to potential security risks.
  • The speaker suggests applying the principle of attribute removal and processing at the SDK level to prevent sensitive information from leaving the process.
  • The redaction processor and collector have the capability to blank out sensitive information such as credit card numbers.
  • Baggage is another area where sensitive information can potentially leak and a solution such as a proxy may be necessary to scrub the information.
  • There is a need for a community effort to address common security and privacy questions and provide comprehensive answers.
  • The speaker also mentions the importance of ensuring that any instrumentation provided to users does not include personally identifiable information by default.

Contour is a Kubernetes ingress controller that can turn a cluster into a routing cluster and delegate traffic to multiple clusters using the power of contour. It supports TCP traffic and can manage secrets differently than normal Kubernetes secrets.

The presentation discusses the importance of verifying the identity and authenticity of software content in the supply chain through Notary v2. The speaker uses real-world analogies to explain the concept and emphasizes the need for trust and policy management in the deployment process.
  • Notary v2 focuses on the distribution and consumption of software content in the supply chain
  • Verifying the identity and authenticity of software content is crucial in ensuring security and reliability
  • Policy management and trust are necessary in the deployment process
  • Real-world analogies, such as airport security checks, can help illustrate the concept
